A long-established global family of hotels, Best Western Hotels & Resorts in Scandinavia is a brand that’s known and trusted throughout the world. It’s certainly a big player in Scandinavia with over 150 hotels situated in Sweden, Denmark and Norway. However, with head office based in the US and a corporate intranet offering that wasn’t geared to local conditions, Best Western Scandinavia set about looking for an alternative solution which brought them to the MyHub intranet.
Tommy Evin, Best Western Scandinavia’s Director of Hotel Development based in Sweden explains that the corporate intranet developed by head office was complicated and convoluted to use. This meant that only a few super users in the office were able to get the best out of the platform.
‘We wanted an intranet that was easy use for everybody to use,’ explains Tommy.
‘We started off by trying to change the original platform with add-ons or plugins but that wasn’t straightforward. We also considered SharePoint as well as developing our own intranet; however, it all got very time consuming and difficult. That’s when we discovered the MyHub intranet solution,’ advises Tommy.
Easy to use and easy to manage were the most important priorities for Best Western Scandinavia and the MyHub intranet came out on top for both counts. In addition, transferring information from the old corporate intranet to the new MyHub one was a simple, straightforward process.
Best Western Scandinavia were also drawn to the flexibility offered by MyHub. As Tommy explains,
‘We didn’t have to sign up to any long-term agreement with MyHub. The month-by-month arrangement fitted our needs perfectly.’
The MyHub intranet has now become the central information point for the 6,000 staff members operating in Scandinavia. Employees can source information, data and the latest company news and local updates directly from the intranet.
What’s more, the MyHub intranet has led to improved communication and collaboration across Best Western Scandinavia hotels operating throughout the region.
‘We’re very happy with the MyHub intranet,’ concludes Tommy. ‘The self-help resources and how-to videos are excellent and make it easy to get things done. We are looking forward to learning more about what the intranet can do and developing the platform further.’
