Behavioral-Based Interviewing

An interview technique determines a candidate’s suitability by asking them about their past experiences. Candidates give examples of how they have demonstrated behaviors or skills in the past, and set a marker for future performance.

Here are some examples of behavior-based interview questions:

  • Tell me about a project that fell behind on key deliverables. How did you diagnose the problem, and what steps did you take?
  • Share an example of how you motivate teammates.
  • Give an example of a target you have reached and how you achieved it.
  • How do you prioritize daily and weekly tasks?

Behavioral-based questions help you uncover how a candidate problem solves and makes decisions. Employers often use this technique to get a feel for how well a candidate aligns with company values and culture.
