The UK-based recruitment consultancy, Kenect Recruitment, is all about ‘kenecting’ employers with temporary and permanent staff across transport, industrial and commercial settings.
Operating a franchise business model and with 14 local offices throughout the UK, ensuring effective and efficient operations is a top priority at Kenect. Recruitment is a fast-paced, highly pressurized environment. And it’s also subject to a great deal of red tape, legislation and compliance requirements.
‘Kenect was already using CRM packages and a cloud server system, but we found these solutions to be inflexible and not engaging enough,’ says Kenect’s Managing Director Jason Whittenham.
‘We wanted a platform that could bridge the communication gap between the directors and staff as well as providing our employees with quick and easy access to all the information and resources they need.’
Kenect was drawn to the MyHub intranet solution because of its comprehensive offering as well as its ease of use.
‘The MyHub intranet is easily understood by everyone. You don’t have to be technically minded and that was important to us,’ advises Jason.
Since its introduction, the MyHub intranet has made a big difference to how the business works.
‘We’re definitely more efficient and effective,’ explains Jason.
‘Staff use the intranet for pretty much everything. They can source information for themselves which has freed up management from responding to queries.
‘We’ve also made extensive use of G Suite apps which we’ve embedded directly in the intranet. For example, staff can access Google Slides presentations of training courses and modules so if they need to check on something or follow up on a query, all the information is there on the intranet.
‘What’s more, we have a lot of our HR forms available online through the intranet so employees can easily share confidential information with HR,’ advises Jason.
In addition, Kenect has introduced a fun, competitive element to operations through the intranet. Before MyHub, the company circulated league tables based on branch performance via email. The friendly competition was designed to incentivize branches; however, the data in the emails was out of date as soon as it was sent which impacted on its effectiveness.
Intranet-embedded Google Sheets have really brought the league tables to life as all the data is now in real-time. Staff members find it far more engaging and motivating than the static and dull email version of old.
‘The MyHub intranet has improved how we work. Easier sharing of information and being more open has also helped to make us more transparent to staff. As a result company culture is at a high.’
Jason added that more efficient and effective working practices alongside the intranet’s time-saving benefits have indirectly affected profit and revenue too.
